Overview

Mosul Restaurant, situated at 85 Ware St in Fairfield, NSW, presents an inviting fusion of Middle Eastern heritage and classic pizza offerings. This modest yet modern spot caters to those seeking authentic flavours rooted deeply in Mosul’s culinary traditions, right in the heart of Australia.

The standout attraction here is undeniably the mannoush—Mosul’s unique take on meat pizza. Customers, including locals with ties to Mosul, praise its distinct crunchy texture and rich taste, evoking a nostalgic sense of home. Unlike conventional pizzas, this dish employs a thin, crisp bread base, preserving a lightness that is often missing in other varieties. The lahmajeen, or lahim ajeen, is another highlight, noted for its well-balanced beef topping that delights first-timers and frequent visitors alike.

Beyond these signature pies, the menu gracefully extends to vegetarian options, chicken pizzas, and comforting classics such as lentil soup and grilled fish. The lentil soup, while cherished for its hearty flavours, draws some varied feedback on consistency, suggesting it leans toward a thicker texture that may or may not appeal depending on preference.

The restaurant’s setting is intimate—a clean, contemporary space complemented by attentive, respectful staff who enhance the dining experience. However, the limited seating and tight quarters can pose challenges, especially during busy weekends, making advanced planning advisable. Street parking is available nearby, though somewhat reliant on timing and luck.

Given its blend of authentic Middle Eastern recipes with a casual pizza restaurant format, Mosul Restaurant appeals broadly to families, locals with cultural ties, and adventurous food lovers eager to experience something beyond standard pizza fare. The warm hospitality and genuine food craftsmanship make it a memorable stop in Fairfield’s diverse dining scene.

In sum, Mosul Restaurant offers a rare culinary bridge—melding the beloved comfort of pizza with the rich, vibrant tastes of Mosul. Whether you come for a hearty breakfast, a family meal, or a nostalgic journey through food, this spot is worth the visit. There is room for refinement, but the core experience remains a welcoming, flavourful encounter.

Went to eat with family as dad recommended it to us. We ordered the mannoush (meat pizza) and pepperoni pizza. The pepperoni pizza was decent, but wish it had the pizza or nap sauce as the base, it tasted like 90% cheese and 2% pepperoni. However, the star of the show, mannoush pizza was delish. It had a nice unique crunchy texture which i haven’t tasted mannoush like that before. Our family is from mosul and it felt like home coming here being served from people also from Mosul. Keep up the great work but there is of course always room for improvement.

First time trying this place and honestly best place to have breakfast with lahmajeen they make it very nice and I love how it’s in a thin bread and doesn’t make you full or sick after you eat! Also love the tea they brought out so delicious The lentil soup was ok but very thick , I think should be bit more watery / thin but that’s just my preference Overall I’d go again for the lahmjeen The staff were nice and friendly The place was clean and modern
